Taproom
What are your taproom hours?
In summer we're open from 2.00 to 8.00pm on Wednesday to Sunday. In winter we open the same days but start an hour later at 3.00pm. You can check our hours on our Contact page.
Do you take bookings?
Everyone is welcome to walk in when we're open. If you're planning to come with a large group please notify us in advance. We can reserve tables for you and run earlier or later than our usual hours by prior arrangement. We're licensed for 50 people inside and with warmer weather, 50 people outside.
Do you take dogs?
Yes, we love dogs in our taproom.
Can I bring my children?
Yes, your whole family is welcome.
Is your taproom accessible?
We have a level entrance and accessible toilet but parts of No Name Alley are still unpaved. The most accessible entrance is from Police Street, at the southern end.
What’s on tap and available in the taproom?
Check what's on tap for what we're currently selling. You can buy these same beers to take home in prefilled 32oz glass flagons and 500ml bottles. We sanitise, purge with CO2, and fill each of these under counter pressure for a longer shelf life.
What’s the difference between flagon and bottle?
The glass flagons (approx. 950ml) are reusable and with a tap of your phone app, can be used again and again free of charge. You save $2 each time you 'borrow' a flagon and when you return it, we'll have another ready to go (learn more).
Can I bring my own rigger or growler to fill?
Yes, we'll fill your own flagons with any of our beers on tap. The cost per liter is the same as our prefilled flagons and bottles.
What is the shelf life of my rigger or growler?
Our beer is best when served fresh. We recommend that you drink our tap-filled beer within 7 days, and our prefilled beer within 3 months. Once opened you should drink it all, as air will oxidise the remaining beer.
Do you deliver?
No, we only sell in our taproom at this time.
Do you have gluten free and vegan options?
Yes, all our beer is vegan (except when we use a non-vegan ingredient, eg. honey) and 'gluten friendly' (we use Clarex, an enzyme that breaks gluten proteins into harmless peptides). We have vegan pizza and garlic bread options but our dough is made with wheat flour and semolina, containing gluten. You're very welcome to BYO gluten free nibbles!
Does your pizza contain lactose?
We use cheeses made from cow and sheep milk but have lactose free pizza and garlic bread options.
What size are your pizzas?
We sell our pizza by the slice. If you're with 2-3 friends you can order a whole tray of 4 slices (equivalent to a 12" pizza). If you're coming with a large group and plan to order snacks, please notify us in advance. We have a small kitchen and it'll help us serve you more quickly.
What time does your kitchen close?
That depends on how busy we are but usually 30 minutes prior to closing. You're welcome to BYO food at any time of the day.
Do you sell gift cards?
Absolutely. We have these available for purchase online and in the taproom.
Brewery
Do you offer tours at the brewery?
No, we don't do tours at this time.
Do you take tourist/social club groups?
We don't do tours but you're welcome to visit our taproom. It's right next to where we brew, so you can't miss seeing where our beer is made. We're happy to answer any of your questions during your visit.
Events & Sponsorships
Can I hire your venue for my party/wedding/event?
No, we're not taking bookings until we get our upper floor back down and can rope off that space.
Can I get a keg of beer for my party/wedding/event?
No, we don't sell retail kegs at this time. But Noisy Brewing will sort you!
We're hosting a fundraising event, will you sponsor or donate your beer?
We don't donate beer or sponsor events at this time.
We have a festival, will you send your beer?
We only participate in events in Otago, such as Wild Dunedin. If your festival is in Otago, please email info@steamerbasin.co.nz to confirm.
Distribution
I have a cafe/restaurant/bar and would like to carry your beer. How can I do that?
We only sell our beer in Otago. If you're located in our region, please email accounts@steamerbasin.co.nz to confirm. Please understand that we're a small brewery and focused on serving our neighbourhood and existing accounts first.
